Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

God’s Abundance

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts come to the waters, and you who have no money come buy and eat. Come buy wine and milk without money, and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you…” (Isaiah 55:1-3)

The Lord has supplied all of our needs. He’s not going to do it, but He has already done it! Just as He established His covenant with David He has promised that if we will only come to Him He will give us what we need. Listen to the words spoken to Joshua just before entering the Promised Land, “Every place that the sole of your treads, I have given it to you…” (Joshua 1:3) Now listen to the words of Jesus in John 3:16,” For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life!”

Did everyone hear that clearly? Jesus did not say that we will get eternal life. He said that we HAVE eternal life. Just like God told Joshua he was given (he already had it) every place that he walks, God tells us that we HAVE eternal life. Not at some far off point in the future, but right now.

The instant you call on the name of the Lord you HAVE the eternal life He promised, and every other promise that He has made. As I have watched other Christians (and sometimes myself), over the years, I have noticed one disturbing trend. Many times when problems show up we “turtle”, and draw up inside our protective shell, and there we remain until we sense the trouble has passed. In one of my favorite verses from the New Testament Jesus warns us that we’re going to have trouble. “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy: I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10) Jesus said, the thief(Satan) comes to bring us trouble, but He came to give us an abundant life. The only thing that we must do is call to Him, and we can have this promise.

The abundant life that God gives is exemplified no better than in the life of Solomon, and his life is still talked about today because no human being has ever been more blessed by God. “So, give Thy servant an understanding heart to judge Thy people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Thine…And it was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing…And I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days.” (I Kings 3:9-13)

King David, Solomon’s father, is called a man after God’s heart, but Solomon truly had a heart for God, and His people. Solomon truly wanted the heart and mind of God, so that when he judged and ruled over the people that they could see the heart of God was the gauge that he used. God could see in him, and He can see in us, what is the motive behind our actions.

I am not a name it/claim it kind of preacher. I do not believe that if you follow God He will always bless you with riches (that is NOT Scriptural), but I do believe that when your heart is right God will bless you in ways that you can’t even imagine. Solomon truly cared for the things that God cared for; God recognized that his heart was sincere, so God gave him the famous wisdom, and He also blessed him with riches beyond his imagination. (I really want to be careful here, and make certain you understand that God is probably not going to make you a millionaire if you trust in Him, but you will be blessed.)

As you live your life I urge you to seek after God, and as your heart gets more in line with His you will suddenly notice blessings from God that were right before you all the time.

I want to end by sharing a couple of my favorite passages of Scripture.

“For this reason I say to you do not be anxious for your life……your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore, do not be anxious for tomorrow for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of its’ own.” (Matthew 625-34)

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
