Saddle up your horses!
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age. “-Matthew 28:19-20
I hope that Steven Curtis Chapman will forgive me for borrowing this line from his song “The Great Adventure”. I think that it is a very appropriate command that we, as Christians, should obey.
This advice , I believe, falls right in line with the Great Commission that was given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ.
In one of my favorite verses Jesus gives us this promise, “…I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full.”(John 10:10) WHOOA!!!!!!! Jesus (God in the flesh) promised us that we can have life “to the full” if we only trust Him to guide us.
In my 18 years of being a Christian I’ve noticed that most Christians don’t follow the Great Commission and don’t fully believe that Jesus can give us “life to the full”; therefore they are left to live a “ho-hum” existence and they’re just happy to be alive.
Most Christians live their lives in what I call “defeat mode”; by that I mean that they give up when facing a problem. They forget that Jesus not only promised a full life, but He also promised victory over lifes problems. Listen to what He told His disciples(and us) in John 16:33, “…In this world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” PRAISE GOD!!! We too can have the victory that Jesus had if we only believe and trust in Him.
Hear me when I say this! Jesus did not go to the cross, so we can just be alive. He wants us to live life to the full!!!!!!!!! Through Him. Jesus bought us the horse when He died on Calvary, but it’s up to us to decide whether we’re just going to let that horse stay in the barn, or if we’re going to saddle up and ride.
Let me conclude with this warning. If we just keep the horse in the stable eventually it’ll get weak; and become ineffective. So, please take your horse out for a gallop every now and then.
Father, I thank You for winning the victory for me, and I ask that You help me find and keep the courage that You give; and to always remember that I can overcome any problem I have because of You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
