Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

What evidence?

“But the Lord said to Moses, ‘Reach out your hand and grasp it by its tail’ so he stretched out his hand and caught it, and it became a staff in his hand” Exodus 4:4

We all look for signs. Signs tell us that we are headed in the right direction, and they also give evidence to others that we know what we’re talking about. Moses here was looking for a sign that he could give the Israelites to show them that God had spoken to him.

Searching for signs is not inherently wrong; as human beings it is natural to want proof before we commit. “Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said, ‘Teacher we want to see a sign from You.’ But He answered and said to them, ‘An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and yet no sign shall be given to it except the sign of Jonah.’” (Matthew 12:38-39) Jesus told the Pharisees that all the evidence they were going to get was right in front of them. There is overwhelming evidence about God that we can see, touch and feel.

God has given us evidence in our hearts, proof that we can feel about His existence. Some people call this a conscience that we all have. It is the innate sense we have between right and wrong. But, it is the Spirit of God, or what the Psalmist says is that “still, small voice”, speaking to our hearts, and telling us that God is near, and Jesus is the way.  “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir to all things, through whom also He made the world.” (Hebrews 1:1) God has given us evidence of His existence through the life, death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. He also speaks to our hearts through the Words of His Son that are in the Bible.

The evidence of God can clearly be seen in nature. Every time we see a graceful deer bouncing through a field, look at a wondrous waterfall, watch a mighty oak swaying in the wind or smell the glorious aroma of a pine tree we have evidence of the Great Creator God. There is no scientific way that all the right molecules can come together to create this magnificent earth. The Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church at Rome, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature has been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20) The eternal love and wonder of God can be seen every time we open our eyes; no matter how much man messes up nature, His love can be seen.

We see in others the living proof of an eternal creator. By the way people act we see either the glory of God shining through them or the rejection of God in their lives. We are all created as God’s handiwork, and there is no logical nor is scientific way that one can say that man with his millions of complexities is an accident of nature. We also see in the works of others the proof that God exists. Just as you see on the news occasionally that someone was able to do extraordinary feats, for example a mother lifting a heavy car off of her child, so you see, or hear, of people who do extraordinary things in the name of God. People also watch Christians with careful attention to see the evidence in their daily lives of a loving Father. “I urge you therefore brethren by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.” (Romans 12:1)

Father, I thank You for giving evidence all around me that clearly points to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
