Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

My Redeemer!

“Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from the bondage of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage; I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.’”-Exodus 6:6

I owed a debt I could not pay; Jesus paid a debt He did not owe. God sent Moses to get His children, and deliver them from the grip of Pharaoh and Egyptian bondage. Our Father does not want to see His children in bondage to anything or under the control of anything other than Himself.  I hear some of you thinking now, Then why doesn’t He just come down and wipe out sin? Well, that has a lot to do with the fact that He loves us more than he wants to control us. Because God loves us He wants us to choose Him, if we do not choose Him then we do not love Him. Therefore, God gives us the option to choose between His love and Satan’s lies. That sounds like an easy choice, but Satan is a master of disguise, and unless we stay in God’s Word then it can be very hard to tell the difference between a lie and the truth.

God sent Moses to deliver the Israelites after 400 years of Egyptian bondage; not only had the Egyptians grown accustomed to having people wait on them, but the Israelites had also grown accustomed to the idea of being in slavery. None of those who were alive remembered what it felt like to be free. In the same way God sent Jesus to free us after a 400 year span of time where He was silent, and most people of that day had forgotten(most people today still don’t remember) what it feels like to be truly free.  But, Jesus says, “If you abide in My word then you are truly disciples of Mine, and you shall know the truth; and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32) Just like Moses came to free the Israelites from Egyptian slavery Jesus came to free us from the slavery of sin.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:32 that while we are now living in a mixed up world that He will separate us when He returns to bring us into His glory. But, we are still called even now to be separate from the rest of the world that is consistently sinking deeper and deeper in the mud. II Corinthians 6:17 says, “Therefore, come out from their midst; and be separate, says the Lord.” God does not want a mixed up Christian He desires us to be totally committed to Him. Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters…You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Moses came as the deliverer for the Israelites just as God through Jesus delivered us. Joel 2:18, “Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, and will have pity on His people.” God promised us long before that He would send a new deliverer to rescue His people (us) from the bondage of sin. John 3:17 says that Jesus was not sent into this world to condemn us for past sins, but He came to deliver us from the slavery we were in.

God through the blood of Jesus purchased us from our previous slaveholder. I think about the evil times of slavery in this country, and the Underground Railroad that brought many slaves from the south to the north; but even after those slaves completed the treacherous journey they were still not free. Because of slave catchers they lived in fear of being caught and returned to their masters. God through Jesus did not just free us by helping us escape the slavery of sin, but He bought us through the blood of Jesus; and we are totally freed from bondage. John 8:32 says, “If therefore the Son shall make you free; you shall be free indeed.”

Father, I thank You for sending Your Son to deliver me and to pay the price for the sins that I have committed, and I ask that You would help me to remember that I have been set free and am no longer a slave to sin. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
