Camp Hawkins 3
Being a Special Ed major I wanted to do something this summer that would be helpful but I also needed a job. Everything at home was strictly volunteer and I couldn’t do that. When i found out about Camp Hawkins I was so excited that I jumped at the chance to work at the camp. When the time came to go to camp I was questioning about if I was doing the right thing or not. Orientation was so hard on me and I almost went home a few times but I’m glad I stuck it out. When the campers came the time flew by and all of a sudden the first week was gone and the campers were leaving and I had the time of my life.
Working at Camp Hawkins confirmed that I want to be in Special Education and that I’m in the right place. Campers come again tomorrow and I cannot wait. All I’ve been able to talk about is how wonderful the campers were and I’ve also been talking about the children in my severe and profound class that I observed this past semester.
God has put such a passion and love in my heart for these children and I cannot wait to see what all He has in store this summer!!
