The Ultimate Victory
Psalms 8:4-5-“What is man that Thou dost take thought of him?…Yet Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels.”
As human beings we tend to get a superiority complex thinking that we are better than anything or everyone. It’s a good trait for us not to have an inferior feeling to others, but when it comes to Spiritual beings if we do not realize their superiority to us, temporary as it may be for Christians, then we are headed for disaster!
Satan is a spiritual being. He is not filled with the spirit of God, but with the spirit of destruction. He was created by God as an angel of light, but pride filled him, and he rebelled agaunst God and was cast out from heaven. Satan and his dominion are fallen angels who are temporarily superiorer to our frail human bobies. Make no mistake Satan and his demons are very real, and when you or I try to combat them then we will lose; unless we use the power of God to fight for us.
In John 10:10 Jesus says of Satan, “The thief(Satan) comes only to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they(you and me) might have life, and have it abundantly.” While we are on this earth Satan will do everything in his power to destroy us, but if we lean on Jesus then, and only then, can we defeat Satan. Jesus comforts us with these words in John 16:33, “These things I have told you; that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage I have overcome the world.”
I John 4:4 reminds us of how certain our victory is; if we rely on the strength of Jesus, “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
Father, I ask that today you would help us to remember that Satan and his demons are more powerful than us, but that through the power that we have available through Your Son we can have the ultimate victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen
