God Hates!
Proverbs 6:16-19
“There are six things which the Lord hates. Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.”
WOA, IS ANYBODY BESIDES ME SCARED RIGHT NOW?
Read through that list again, and tell me if you can find one thing that is not openly committed in the US. Not only openly committed, but bragged about and respected by most people. Let’s break that list down together and see what we discover.
The first thing is haughty eyes, also used in conjunction with “prideful heart”. If you think you are better than other people then you have “haughty eyes”, and the Lord hates that. Don’t misread what I am saying because GOD LOVES YOU. But He hates your attitude!!!!!!!!!!
Number two is a lying tongue. OUCH!!!! The writer of Proverbs does not say that you can tell a little “white lie” and be o.k. before God. No, he says if you lie the Lord hates that! Again, let me say that does not mean the Lord hates you. GOD LOVES YOU! But, He hates what you have done.
Next are hands that shed innocent blood. This covers a multitude of things from outright murder to abortion. It was God who placed life inside each and every person, so if we decide to take away that life then we are spitting in the face of God, and telling Him that our needs and wants come before His plans. Again, let me emphasize the fact that GOD LOVES YOU! So, if you have killed anyone, or had an abortion then there is forgiveness for you when you come to Jesus.
Next, a heart that devises wicked plans. We, all fit into this category because I don’t think anyone can say that they haven’t manipulated a situation to make things happen in their favor regardless of how other people were affected. God hates it when we do that. But, as I said before GOD LOVES US!
Feet that run rapidly to evil. This also covers a multitude of things; from lying and cheating to outright murder. If you are the type of person that tries to “cover their tracks” when involved in a sticky situation then God hates that. But, don’t forget, HE LOVES YOU
A false witness who utters lies. This is the second time in this short list that we see how much God despises lying. BE HONEST! We are never more like Satan, the opposer of God, than when we lie, and twist the truth. Remember, that’s how Satan got Eve to disobey, sin against, God in the Garden. God hates this because our lies remind Him of Satan! Nevertheless, GOD LOVES YOU!
One who spreads strife among the brothers. When you or I argue, and cause others to argue and lose their joy God hates that. Remember what the Apostle Paul told us in Romans 12:18 that we should try to be at peace with all men, and Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God.” God hates our actions that cause strife, and anger. But, HE WILL ALWAYS LOVE US!!!!!!!!

Father, I thank You for the love that You have shown me through the life, death and resurrection of Your Son, but I ask that You help me to remember that I have been called by You to separate myself from the world. I pray that as I am in this world that others would notice the difference in me and be drawn to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
