Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

The Mountain of God

Genesis 22:2, ” He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”

When the Lord command Abraham to take his son Isaac, and offer him before the Lord is what some people call the most prolific example in the Old Testament that we have of what God would do with Son, Jesus. By offering his son Isaac Abraham would give us an example(in human terms) of what would later do through Jesus.

I agree and disagree with this way of thinking. Most definitely we see in this story the love and comittment that God has towards us through the sacrifice made. However, the story of Isaac also shows what it takes for humans to follow God. God requires everything that we have not because He is a stingy God who wants to hoard all our posessions, but because He is a loving God who wants to take our posessions and make them better. The relationship that Abraham and Isaac had after this event was undoubtedly better than before because they had been to the Mountain of God together, and they had witnessed, together, His power, and His redemption.

Abraham was prepared to follow God’s lead, and kill his son. But, he knew in his heart that God was going to provide, and God did provide. At the last minute God provided a ram for Abraham to offer instead of his son Isaac.

God always provides for us! It may be at the last possible second, but God always makes a way for us in any situation when we obey His commands. Death seemed to have won, and Satan was undoubtedly claiming the victory; but three days after Jesus was crucified on the Mount outside Jerusalem He rose again and God scored the ultimate. I don’t know if Golgotha and the mount where Abraham offered Isaac are the same, probably not. But God always provides for His loved one!!!

Genesis 22:14, “Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.”

Father, I thank You for providing a way for me when there seems to be no way, and I ask that You would remind me always that I am more than a conqueror through You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
