I want…
Exodus 3:16, “Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt.”
For generations the Israelites had suffered at the hands of the Egyptians. People had been born and died while they were waiting to see the deliverance of God. They were, undoubtedly, beginning to wonder, Does God care that I’m hurting? Maybe some of them were even asking, Is God real?
Not being swayed by these forseeable questions God sent the man whom He had chosen to deliver the Israelites, and it was all done according to God’s timing.
God used an unexpected person to deliver the Israelites, Moses had once been a captor of the Israelites. And, God was not swayed by the questions that the Israelites asked.
Skip ahead a few hundred years and we see how God sent another unexpected person to deliver the Israelites(and us) from bondage. For generations the Romans had oppressed the Israelites in Jerusalem and around the world. The Hebrews had prayed long and hard for a deliverer but their prayers seemed to be falling on deaf ears. Out of frustration some of the Jews had all but given up on God and conformed to the Roman way of life. But in His timing, and without being swayed by the Hebrews questions God sent His Son to deliver us. When we conform to this world, then we will miss seeing the deliverance of God; as some of the Hebrews who had turned to the Romans.
Conforming to anyone but God is a sure sign of surrender, and total rejection of God. Romans 12 1-2, “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” The Apostle Paul was reminding us to look at the dangers of conformity for God’s people. Conformity has caused people to abandon God even though they never meant to. When we conform to this world; whether it is the Egyptian world, the Roman world or the humanistic world that we live in today we give up on God, and we begin trying to meet our own needs according to our worldly rules instead of waiting on His plan.
Make no mistake about it God cares about you and has a plan for your life, and as long as you wait for His timing then this world of pain will transform into an eternity of pleasure.
