Peace
Exodus 5:8, “But the quota of bricks which they were making previously, you shall impose on them; you are not to reduce any of it. Because they are lazy, therefore they cry out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.'”
Moses was sent by God to Pharaoh to get the people of Israel out of bondagee. God had heard their cries, and He was concerned about there condition. That is comforting to me to know that God cares about me, individually. The Bible says that God knows, and has numbered each hair on our head, Luke 12:7 “Indeed , the very hairs of your head are all numbered…” If God cares enough about me enough to number each hair on my head then I’m not gonna worry when bad things happen, and they will happen. I will simply put my trust in God and know that He will work things for my good.(Romans 8:28)
Like many people today in the secular world; Pharaoh thought the Israelites were being lazy because they wanted to go serve God. We see his line of thinking in chapter 5 verse 5, ” Again Pharaoh said, ‘Look, the people of the land are now many, and you would have them cease from their labors !'” Pharaoh was looking at the bottom line! He was interested only in getting as much material as he could.
Today, many people think that same way they are only interested in the bottom line, or they may say something like, “What’s in it for me?” Worshipping and serving God is very valuable, and will provide you with more benefits than you ever imagined. It will provide you with a greater sense of peace and worth than any amount of money can.
But, still today there are people who would say that those of us who choose to worship God instead of serving the almighty dollar are lazy.
I say, like Joshua, ” …but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”(Joshua 24:15) Medical, physical, and psychological testing has proven over and over again that regular, consistent worship and prayer is beneficial to the human body by releiving stress and tension, relaxing muscles and clearing the mind.
