I do it
Exodus 34:10, “Then God said, “Behold, I am going to make a covenant. Before all your people I will perform miracles which have not been produced in all the earth nor among any of the nations ; and all the people among whom you live will see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearful thing that I am going to perform with you.”
When I read this verse I am reminded of two things: TV Commerials and toddlers.
A few years Coca-Cola ran a commercial campaign that had polar bears in it enjoying a refreshing cold Coke. In one of those commercials a baby polar bear was pushing a giant boulder to the top of a mountain. You could see him struggling and pushing as hard as he could and the boulder was barely moving, but when the boulder he was struggling with finally made it up the hill the camera panned out and you saw the father polar bear pushing just above the boy.
Most people, and all parents, have heard their children say, “I do it.” Children like to do things own there own because it gives them a sense of accomplishment. But parents know that there are some things that toddlers just cannot do without the parents help, so the parents ever so carefully help their children while trying to make it look like the child did the work theirself.
We are children of God, and like polar bear commercial God will step in when we need help. When we have an obstacle in front of us that is seemingly impossible for us God is always nearby to help us complete the task, and like the dutiful parent that I mentioned above God will sometimes step in to help us when we have “bitten off more than we can chew”, and He will give us the means needed to complete the task.
When we come to God in need of His help He will give us what we need to glorify His Name. In Matthew 7: 11 Jesus says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!”
God is the ultimate good Father, and He always wants the best for His children! Many of us go through things that may not seem to be good for us, but trusting God until the end always reeps a reward that we never could have gotten on our own. Just like the polar bear cub could have never pushed the boulder to top of the hill alone; we can never reach the summit that God has prepared for us without His help!
