Get washed up!
Exodus 40:12, “Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water.”
God was giving Moses the final instructions on the preparation of the tabernacle. At the command of God Moses had already cleansed and purified the tabernacle with the blood of the sacrifice. The tabrnacle had been cleansed by the blood, but the priests were still unworthy to enter because they were defiled human beings and unclean before God. but God out of His mercy provided a way into His presence. He told Moses that he should bring Aaron and his sons to the tent where God was and their he was to wash them before God.
This is a perfect illustration of baptism, and how we must be cleansed before we can serve God! Jesus cleansed the tabernacle of God by His sacrifice, but we are unclean and unworthy in ourselves to come into God’s presence, but He made a way through baptism to clean us! I am not saying that water baptism is necessary for salvation; however, I believe that it is an important, essential, step in service to God. God ordained water baptism for all men, and Jesus himself was even baptized!
Matthew 3:13, “Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Jesus served as the example for all people who wish to follow God! Righteousness does not come to us because of who we are, but righteousness comes to us by following God and all of His commands. When we disobey God, even in the seemingly smallest detail, it breaks His heart, but when we follow His commans with all our heart then He will say of us, “with him I am well pleased.”
