Testify
Leviticus 5:1, “Now if a person sins after he hears a public adjuration to testify when he is a witness, whether he has seen or otherwise known, if he does not tell it, then he will bear his guilt.”
Moses gives the Israelites the command from God saying that they must tell others about what they know if they are called to testify about something, and if they do not say what they have heard or seen with their own eyes then they become guilty.
As Christians who know the truth of God we have seen with our eyes what God has done for us and heard with our ears the Word of God. We are commanded by God to share with others what God has done for us. Some people may wholeheartedly agree that we are called by God to share His love, but say on the other hand that God will forgive me if I don’t. God will look the other way if I fail to praise His name. That kind of thinking makes us feel better, but it flies in the face of Jesus Christ who said in Matthew 10: 32, “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33 “But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.”
You and I have been commanded to speak the truth of what we know, and just just like the Israelites we are guilty before a holy God if we do not. Of course the blood of Jesus’ sacrifice will cleanse us, but if we continually fail to share how God has changed our lives it begs the question, “Has God really changed our life? Or do we just give Him “lip service” once in a while?”
