Yes, You Can Ministry

The Glory of God

Leviticus 9:6, Moses said, “This is the thing which the LORD has commanded you to do, that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”

The Israelites desired desperately to see God’s glory. They had witnessed it before in many forms. The cloud by day and the fire by night, how Moses’ face had shown when he came off the mountain with God. Now, the Israelites were addicted to God’s glory, and they wanted more. They had a deep yearning inside them to see, behold the glory of God.

Whenever we see just a small glimpse of God’s glory we get like that. It doesn’t matter who you are when you see God even for an instant you long for more. Take for example the story of Nebuchadnezzar. King Nebuchadnezzar was an extremely arrogant, self centered person. Being the king he thought that he had ultimate power, so he set up an image, god, and ordered everyone to bow before his image.(see Daniel 3) Three Israelites refused to bow before this false god, so King Nebuchadnezzar had them thrown into the furnace; but when the king looked in he saw another image that looked like the Son of God. The king had only gotten a small portion of the glory of God, but it totally changed his life.

The Apostle Paul was once a persecutor of the church. He sought out Christians who were worshipping and serving God to put in jail, and have executed for treason. Then while he was making a trip to find more Christians in Damascus he was confronted by God (see Acts 9). After his encounter with God’s glory the persecutor became the defender, and Saul became Paul probably the greatest evangelist the world has ever known. That is the power of God’s glory!

I remember my first encounter with God’s glory. It was August 2, 1992 (the day I was baptized) I remember after Reverend Marshall Ray had baptized me that I felt a power, an energy, come over my body like I had never felt before. Everything looked different, and sounded different, the glory of God was no longer just an illusion; but it was something real and definite in my life. I have had the fortune of seeing God’s glory manifested several times since then, and I must admit that I am an addict. Once you see, touch, hear or witness God’s glory in any form then you too will become an addict because there is nothing that can compare to His glory!

Father, I thank You for sharing Your glory with people in this world, and I ask that You open my eyes; so that I might see a glimpse of Your glory to have my life changed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
