The Holy Exchange
Leviticus 27:10, “He must not exchange it or substitute a good one for a bad one, or a bad one for a good one; if he should substitute one animal for another, both it and the substitute become holy.”
Thr Lord told Moses that no substitutes or exchanges were to made by men who brought their offerings before God. Men were not and are not allowed to take a bad animal and substitute it for a good animal to give to the Lord, but if such an exchange were to be made then both animals were made holy before God. The unclean animal that was not acceptable to God would take on the characteristics of the clean sacrifice, and they would then both become Holy before God.
The story of Abraham’s offering of Isaac is a perfect example of this Law that was given by God. The Lord commanded Abraham to offer up his only son Isaac as a sacrifice to Him, but God knew beforehand that Isaac would not fulfill His requirements for a perfect sacrifice, so God stepped in at the last minute and provided a sacrifice that was suitable.
Human beings with flaws and failures can never fulfill the requirements that God demands for a perfect, unblemished sacrifice. We all are unclean and unworthy before God. We read in Psalm 14:1, “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds ; There is no one who does good. 2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. 3 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt ; There is no one who does good, not even one.” The Apostle Paul reminds us of the fallen state, the uncleanliness, of man in the third chapter of Romans. There is no man, and therefore no sacrifice that we can make that is acceptable before God; but he finishes that thought by saying we have become worthy, and we have become acceptable to God because of the sacrifice that was made by Jesus Christ, God’s perfect Lamb!
As Christians, believers in Christ, we have been made acceptable to God because of our faith in Him. Romans 3:21, “But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe ; for there is no distinction ;”
No more do we need the offerings, sacrifices, of animals that will not fulfill the requirements of God, but we have been, and will be accepted by God because of the sacrifice of Jesus; and when we accept His sacrifice, and show our faith in Him we will take on His holy characteristics.

Father, I thank You for providing Your perfect Lamb to handover His holiness to me, and I ask that You remind me that because of Jesus I am holy in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen
