Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

The Vow

Numbers 6:8, “All the days of his separation he is holy to the LORD.”

The vow of the Nazirite was one that the children of Israel could take to seprate themselves to the Lord. During the time of their separation their were many rules thaat they had to follow, and if they did not follow these rules then they would be disqualified from service.

Rules are not always fun, but they are always neccesary. If we did not have a set of rules to follow then life would be chaos; their would be total disorder as everybody did just whatever they wanted.

As Christians we have rules to follow! The day we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of our life we set ourselves apart for Him. We became separate from the world, and according to II Corinthians 5:17 when we accept the sacrifice of Jesus then we become new creations. We are newly created by God to do His will, and we know what His will is by the words we read in II Peter 3:9,“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

When we made our promise to God we told Him that we would be separate from the world, and live our lives by His commands. We know that His first and foremost command for us is that we should love Him above all other things and then we should love others as ourselves.

When He was asked by the Pharisee’s what the greatest command was Jesus answered, Matthew 22:37, “And He said to him,  ‘YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.’38This is the great and foremost commandment.39The second is like it, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’40On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

The vow that was taken by you and I on the day we accepted Christ’s sacrifice can only be fulfilled when we love God, and we love one another!

Father, I thank You for loving me enough to send Jesus Christ to save me from myself, and I ask that You help me fulfill my vow to You by loving others like You love them. In Jesus’ name, Amen
