Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

One thing

Numbers 15:16, “There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the alien who sojourns with you.”

God squashed with one sentence the elitist feeling of the Israelites. He basically said you’re not any better than a foreigner who keeps my laws, and if you step out of line then you will get the same judgment they get. But it will not be any harder for them to get in my good graces than you. There is one law for you and for them, and if they follow it I will not love you any more or them any less.

I believe that’s something that many Americans should heed; we are not any better than other people in this world. I agree that we have had the hand of God on us, protecting us, for the first 235 years of existence, but when we turn our backs on God, which is beginning to happen, then He will let us go to our own destruction.

One law can make us right before God! It’s not about finding the right combination of things but the one thing that God requires. God does not make us jump through hoops; searching high and low for His love. It is plainly visible to all people by looking at one thing.

I love the movie “City Slickers”. In one scene from that movie Billy Crystal’s character is talking to the character played by Jack Palance, and he says that he can’t find happiness; Jack Palance holds up one finger and says one thing will make you happy. That sounds simple, but it’s extrmely insightful. People search all around for that thing they need to fulfill their life; all the while God is screaming at us through the cross of Christ, “I am what you need”.

In maybe the best known chapter of the Bible John 3 Jesus told Nicodemus, 14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

Hope, fulfillment, happiness and joy can only be found in one place. Finding God is the only way that we can ever be satisfied! He is the one thing that all people need and want to satisfy them!
