Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

Tooting my horn.

Numbers 29:1, “Now in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall also have a holy convocation ; you shall do no laborious work. It will be to you a day for blowing trumpets.”

This is one of the first instances of the Lord ordaining a day of rest, “a Sabbath”. He commanded Moses to tell the Israelites that this day should be set apart from the other days because it was holy unto God. In fact in the 29th chapter of Numbers God separates 11 Sabbath days unto Himself.
Now, I understand that many times people that truly love the Lord skip over, or maybe just briefly skim over, chapters like this, and believe me I understand why. I mean this chapter is not as exciting as men walking through fire, or blind people getting healed; and this is definitely not as heart pumping as Jesus walking out of the grave, but this much missed chapter has some words by God that we need to hear.
I would like to look at this command by God, and see what He says. God told Moses that on the day that the Israelites had a Holy Convocation “gathering” that they should blow their trumpets. This is, I believe, more than a command from God to play loud music, but it’s command that they should proclaim loudly what God had done for them.
This is a command that we as Christians should really take to heart because if you are saved by the blood of Jesus then you truly have a reason to blow your trumpet, but while you blow the trumpet God will get the glory.
Many people say; I don’t know enough about the Bible, or I don’t have enough education. God doesn’t want you to necessarily teach a Bible course, or even write a great Scholarly thesis on the etymology of Agape. God just wants you to blow your trumpet, and He will get the glory.
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is in the 4th chapter of Acts; Peter and John were taken before the Jewish council because they were preaching about Jesus. The high council was amazed at their boldness because they were “uneducated and untrained men” but then they remebered that “they had been with Jesus”. In spite of the fact that these men were nobodies in that society God was honored because of the boldness they had in Him to “toot their horn.”
If God can get honored because some societal rejects talked about Him, how much honor could you bring Him?

Father, I thank You for honoring me through the life, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ, and I ask that You help me find the boldness in You to toot my horn for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen
