Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

Heart Markers

Joshua 4:3, “and command them, saying, ‘Take up for yourselves twelve stones from here out of the middle of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet are standing firm, and carry them over with you and lay them down in the lodging place where you will lodge tonight.’ ”

The children of God were on the move into the Promised Land, and the Jordan River was the only thing that stood between them and the land that God had promised them. But God took no consideration for the river that was in their way. Just as He had parted the Red Sea in front of the Israelites as they fled Egypt, so He knew that the Israelites could pass through the Jordan.

After the children of Israel passed through the Jordan on dry ground the waters came back together and flowed like nothing had ever happened, but the Israelites had seen what God had done, and at the command of God they set up a marker to remind them, and to give witness to the awesome power of God. Throughout later generations this marker would stand as a symbol of what God had done for His children!

When Jesus came to this earth the children of God were still searching for the Promised Land, but their sinful nature stood in the way of reaching what God had promised. But just like God saw in the Red Sea and the Jordan River our sinful nature was not a hindrance to His glory. Just as easily as God had parted the waters before the Israelites He would split open the sin that separated His children from the Promised Land! Jesus made a way for us to enter into the glory of God by making the perfect sacrifice, and conquering death for us.

Jesus reminds us that even though this great chasm of death, introduced into the world by sin, separates us from the glory of God that all who trust in Him will cross over into God’s presence. John 11:25, “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life ; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this ?”

Just like the children of Israel set up a marker beside the Jordan River to commemorate what God did for them; all those who have trusted in Christ have a marker in their lives to remind them what God has done, and so they can share with others the wonderful things that have been done in their life by God!

I Peter 3:15, “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.”
