The comeback kids
Joshua 8:1, “Now the LORD said to Joshua, “Do not fear or be dismayed. Take all the people of war with you and arise, go up to Ai ; see, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.”
The first time the nation of Israel went against the land of Ai they were confident that they were going to win with ease, but because they had disobeyed the Lord by taking objects from Jericho that God had forbidden He allowed Ai to defeat them.
At the command of God, Joshua purged the unclean items from Israel, and the Lord then commanded the Israelites to go back to Ai and take the city. After the Israelites cleansed themselves from disobedience to God they easily conquered the kingdom of Ai, and took the king captive.
You may have heard it said that God will not live in a dirty house! Neither will He use a dirty person to accomplish His glory. That’s not to say that He will not use an imperfect person because no one is perfect before God, but He will NOT use anyone that has unconfessed, unrepented sin in their life for His glory, nor will He bless that person!
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:23, “Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,24 leave your offering there before the altar and go ; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering…48″Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” that we are to be perfect before God when we present our offering.
As I said earlier, it is impossible for anyone to be perfect before God! Their is only one way that you or I can assume perfection before God, and that way is through the life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ! Through Him only can our offerings be made acceptable to God, and through Him alone can we be joined to God in His glory!
I am unaware of any failure that you may have in your life, but I know that whatever that failure may be if you will turn to God He will turn your failure into His success!
