Specificity
Joshua 15:1, “Now the lot for the tribe of the sons of Judah according to their families reached the border of Edom, southward to the wilderness of Zin at the extreme south.”
I love the Word of God!!! Love, Love, Love From Genesis to Revelations, and everything in between. The Bible is the ULTIMATE! Like we say in the south, “It’s better than sliced bread!”
The Israelites thought, and every indication looked like, God had abandoned them, but then God sent Moses to deliver His people from bondage. Then the Israelites were forced to wander in the wilderness for forty years because of their disobedience before God allowed them to take possession of the land that He had promised Abraham. After that first disobedient generation was gone God allowed the Israelites to take possession of the land He had promised under the leadership of Joshua, the man whom God had chosen.
The Bible is very specific, and I love that because I try to be very specific about things. Specificity and organization can be very much alike, but they can at times be very different. One look at my desk will tell you that because I am not organized.
God likes to use specific people for specific tasks. He specifically chose Abram(Abraham) to bring His nation into existence. He specifically used Joseph to save the Hebrew people from obliteration. He specifically used Moses to save His people, and He specifically used Joshua to bring His people into the Land He had promised.
Jesus Christ was sent into this world by God for a very specific reason. At a very young age Jesus understood that He was sent by God for one reason. When He got separated from His earthly parents on a trip to Jerusalem, they later found Him in the temple and He said to them,Luke 2:49 “…Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?”(Italics mine) Later in His earthly ministry Jesus said to Zacchaeus, Luke 9:10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Jesus understood the specific reason that God had sent Him for.
Just as God called His people out of Egypt into the Promised Land; He is calling us into a relationship, and that relationship can be found in only one person, Jesus Christ! John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life ; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
We all have been called by God for a specific reason, and that specific thing we are called to is a relationship with Him! After we have found our true life in Him God may give you another goal in life, but the specific goal of God is to have a relationship with you!
