Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

Forgotten

Judges 2:10, “All that generation also were gathered to their fathers ; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel.”

I believe that this is one of the saddest verses in the Bible; after the generation of Joshua died the children of Israel forgot about God, and what He had done. I’m sure they had heard a reference to God by the older people, but they really didn’t pay much attention. You know kids don’t listen to grown-ups;as a matter of fact not many people pay attention unless you take them aside and talk to them. The older generation obviously had not done this, and they had forgotten one of the key commands of God.

In Exodus 6 God commanded Moses to talk about Him, and to remember; or the Israelites would soon forget. Exodus 6:9 “You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. 10 “Then it shall come about when the LORD your God brings you into the land which He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you, great and splendid cities which you did not build, 11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and hewn cisterns which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and you eat and are satisfied, 12 then watch yourself, that you do not forget the LORD who brought you from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.”

Traditions and stories that are not passed down from generation to generation are quickly forgotten about and dismissed. I imagine there is a tradition that you remember from your childhood that your family no longer does; I know I remember a few. Things that are important to us are talked about, and remembered from generation to generation; while things that have little importance are rarely mentioned and quickly forgotten.

For us as followers of Christ there is nothing more important than God! Therefore, we should always have Him on our lips, and be ready to share with others about His majesty!

The apostle Paul reminded his young apprentice Timothy to always be ready to share with others about God. II Timothy 4:1, “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom : 2 preach the word ; be ready in season and out of season ; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine ; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry(Italics mine)

Whether you are a preacher or not; as a Christian you have been commanded to share with others about God and what He has done for you. That is your ministry, and you must fulfill it; or the greatness of God will quickly be forgotten.
