Heaven on earth-Camp Hawkins
As many of you know who keep up with this blog I have not posted much lately. That’s because for the last six weeks I have been “working” at Camp Hawkins.
Camp Hawkins is a camp in North Georgia that is run by the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home. It is a place that serves developmentally disabled children by giving them some time to just be a kid and have fun. We take the kids horseback riding, to the Fun Factory(a video arcade with a bowling alley, go-kart track, etc.), and on the last night of camp we have a talent show where the kids show off their talents for a large group.(This years we had the largest audiences ever.) The talent shows are AWESOME, and if you ever get a chance I highly recommend coming. As you can see it’s hard to call it “work” because it’s non-stop fun.
I am so appreciative to god for giving me this opportunity to put His love into action, and not just writing words to show it. I am also thankful to be associated with the great group of people who “work” at CH from the counselors to the volunteers, THEY’RE GREAT!!!
This year the administrative staff asked us not to post pictures on the Internet; to respect the campers privacy, so I can’t share all the great pictures I have.
I’ll be back here on Monday to post my regular daily devotions. I hope you have a blessed weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!
