The faith of a mother
Judges 17:1, “Now there was a man of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Micah. 2 He said to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver which were taken from you, about which you uttered a curse in my hearing, behold, the silver is with me; I took it.” And his mother said, “Blessed be my son by the LORD.” 3 He then returned the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said, “I wholly dedicate the silver from my hand to the LORD for my son to make a graven image and a molten image ; now therefore, I will return them to you.”
I was blessed with one of the best, most Godly mothers on the planet. No matter what we did as her children she always had the capacity to look past our faults and failures to see the good in her children. Many of mine and my brothers friends considered my mom to be a “surrogate” mom them, even though they loved their mom, they knew my mom was very special.
WHEN I was growing up my mom was always involved in our activities. When we were in elementary she was a member of the PTA(Parent-Teacher Association), usually she was the team mother for our sports teams. And, even though I have 3 brothers she never missed a game we played. Many times that meant spending most of the day at the ballpark. I remember times when she would go home to prepare a home-made dinner, and then bring it to us. We would sit at a picnic table and eat her home–made fried chicken, potato salad, and drink tea while people played games. It was seemingly little things like this that made my childhood years great! I know that many of you have good memories of the GREAT MOM God blessed you with.
The faithfulness of a mom not only blesses her children, but it can also bless many others around them, as they watch the Godly example she provides. I hope new mothers(or those wanting to be mothers) realize that their faithfulness will have a widespread effect on everyone they come in contact with, and I also pray that children of GREAT mothers will recognize and appreciate fully all that their mothers have done for them!
