Bodily Glorification

I Corinthians 6:12, “All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. 14 Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute ? May it never be! 16 Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH.” 17 But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own ? 20 For you have been bought with a price : therefore glorify God in your body.”

In his letter to the church at Corinth, the Apostle Paul reminded them that they are sealed by Christ into the family of God, if they had received the Spirit from Him. It is almost a repeat of what Paul said to the church in Rome(Romans 8:38-39)When you or I have been purchased by the blood of Christ there is nothing that can separate us from that love, NOTHING!

However, Paul continues to say that while everything in this world is allowed not everything is good for you. He gives an example of a believer being joined to prostitute. While nothing here, or anywhere else in the Bible, is mentioned about a believer losing Salvation. It does say, or imply, that such behavior is an abomination to God. And even though we are reminded in these verses, in Romans, and other Scripture passages that we can never be separated from the love of God; we are warned that our behavior can separate us from intimate fellowship with Him!

As Christians we have been bought or purchased by the blood of Christ, and therefore we are obligated to worship Him not only with our mind and soul, but also we must worship Him with our bodies. When we worship Him, or give Him our entirety then He will fill us with Himself!

Father, I thank You for reminding me that when I fully worship You then I will be filled with Your Spirit.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
