"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

The Law is Good

the_ten_commandments2

I Timothy “1:8 But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers 10 and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted. 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, 13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief ; 14 and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.”

The Law was not given to Moses just as a “honey-do” list. Yes, if we love God, and our hearts are in the right place then we will follow His commands, but the Law was NEVER intended to make us right before God because that is an impossiblity for mankind. Psalm 14 says, ” 1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds ; There is no one who does good. 2 The LORD has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. 3 They have all turned aside, together they have become corrupt ; There is no one who does good, not even one.”
The law points to our need to have someone become righteuosness for us, and meet the requirements that we could never meet on our own. The Law with all of it’s power and ability to draw us to a Holy God could never bring us into right standing with God. The righteousness that God requires can ONLY BE MET THROUGH THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST!
Galatians 3:”19 Why the Law then ? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. 20 Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas God is only one. 21 Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God ? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law. 22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. 24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.”
Some people try to reach righteousness by following the Law, but the Law can NEVER make us righteous before God. ONLY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CAN DO THAT!Following the Law is important for all Christians, BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR SALVATION!
All who try to reach the Throne of God by their own actions cannot receive the free grace of Jesus.
Matthew 9:1, “When Jesus heard this, He said, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.13″But go and learn what this means : ‘I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

All believers have been entrusted with truth! As Christians we are obligated by our God, and by our belief in His grace to follow His commands. When asked by the Pharisees which command was the greatest Jesus said that the greatest command was to love the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind; and the second was to love your neighbor as yourself. If we truly love God, and our neighbors then we WILL share the LOVE OF CHRIST with everyone!

Titus “1 Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago, 3 but at the proper time manifested, even His word, in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior”

All Believers must use their gifts! The Bible says that we all have been given gifts, or talents, that must be used in service for GOD . This is an area that I have fallen short in many times in my life.
Unless ALL Christians use their talents/gifts for the service of God then we will NEVER complete the work that GOD has given us to do. Some gifts are more visible than others, but none are more or less important. All are necessary for the completion of GOD’S work!

“Romans 12:4 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; 7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; 8 or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor ; 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.”

Father God, I thank You for the Law that You have given that points me to the salvation You showed through Your Son, Jesus Christ, and I ask that You help me to use my gifts to help promote Your Kingdom.
In Jesus’ Name,Amen
