Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

Do not be afraid

I Samuel 22:23, “Stay with me; do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life, for you are safe with me.”

Sometimes I’m amazed by the correlation between the Old and New Testaments! Many of the hero’s in the Old Testament portray the characteristics of Jesus Christ!

Abraham was willing to go wherever God told him to go, even though He did not know God. He still obeyed God to do His calling. Moses, did not know God, but he was willing to go, at God’s command, before Pharaoh and demand the release of the Israelites from bondage. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, and sold into slavery; and years later after his brother’s had all but forgotten about him Joseph was used by God to save his entire family. Jonah did not want to go to Nineveh and tell them about God, but after God got his attention he relented and went as God’s emissary. Each of these men despite the failures they had each portray a characteristic we see multiplied in Jesus.

Today,s verse again shows a person who displays a characteristic of Jesus. When David was running for his life from King Saul he went to the priest, and Ahimilech could see God’s hand on David; so he gave David assistance. When King Saul discovered this he had the entire family of Ahimelech slain, and only Abiathar escaped. David promised to keep him safe from a murderous King as long as he stayed close to him.

That is very parallel to the Gospel story. As Christians we are “running” from an evil king. The Bible tells us in John 12 that Satan is the king(ruler) of this world. John 12:31, “Now judgment is upon this world ; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.32″And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.” We too are running from an evil king with murderous intentions in his heart, but Jesus will keep us safe from death if we stay close to Him!
