Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

Comfortable Clothing

I Samuel 17:38, “Then Saul clothed David with his garments and put a bronze helmet on his head, and he clothed him with armor. 39 David girded his sword over his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. So David said to Saul, “I cannot go with these, for I have not tested them.” And David took them off .”

Many of us know the story of David and Goliath. The shepherd boy David went down into the valley to fight the mighty warrior Goliath because he defied the people and the power of God.

Before David went into the battle to fight against the Philistine he was called into the presence of Saul, the king whom God had rejected. Saul gave David his armor, but David refused to wear this bulky armor because he was not able to fight in it. Instead David chose to go into the fight dressed in his normal, comfortable clothing.

Many times, daily it seems, the world tries to “dress us” in the clothes that they say we need for the battle. However, if we are faithful to listen to the still, small voice of God then we will understand that we do not need the bulky clothing of this world, but we should put on the armor of God and then we can defeat any foe that the world sends!

David told Goliath, I Samuel 17:45, “Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. 46″This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,”

David knew what we all should recognize; even though the enemy before him appeared to be better dressed for battle God would give him the victory simply because He is God. We must remember that He is God, and He will deliver those who love Him, and He will make a way where there seems to be no way! Matthew 6:33 tells us, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”As long as we continue in the faith, seeking His kingdom then we will have victory over any foe that comes against us!

We see the greatest example of this in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. John 20:6, “And so Simon Peter also came, following him, and entered the tomb ; and he saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the face-cloth which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself.” Jesus showed us that the uncomfortable clothes that the world puts on us must be discarded before we can get the victory that God has given us!
