Repent

Matthew 2:8,”Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance ; 9 and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father ‘; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham.”

The noun repentance comes from the verb repent which is defined by a change in habits or actions to correct a past sin. Everyone no matter who they are has sin in their past. Romans 3:23 tells us that we have “all sinned”, so sin in your life is never an excuse for not picking yourself up and correcting your failures to continue the work God has called you to; God recognizes our sin, yet He still calls us His children.
We as His children must also recognize the sin that we commit, and repent of that sin and move forward for His glory. To truly repent calls for action on our part; it means that we must turn from our old sinful ways and back to God. When we truly repent before God then our repentance will cause God to act!
II Chronicles 7:13-14 says, “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
When we humble ourselves, pray, and seek Him then God will act on our behalf and heal our suffering. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
When we confess and repent of our sins our sins before God, then He will cleanse us, and we can move forward bearing fruit for His kingdom.
Today, we should examine our lives, and recognize the sin that hinders us from doing the work of God, and repent of that sin before God!
True repentance before God will always result in bearing fruit!

Father God, I thank You for loving me despite my sin, and I ask that You would help me “put aside the sin that so easily entangles”, so I might continue producing fruit for You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
