Yes, You Can Ministry

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13

Nobody’s Perfect!

Genesis 20:2, “And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, ‘She is my sister.’…”

Perfection is an attribute that all human beings seek. From birth we strive to be the perfect child, perfect sibling, perfect friend, and as we grow that search carries over and we try to be the perfect spouse and the perfect parent. There is nothing wrong with striving to be perfect in all we do; in fact it’s a noble aspiration to seek perfection, but it’s an attribute that we will never attain.

Not even Abraham, the man who was called the friend of God, ever attained perfection. He followed God when the Lord told him to leave his family and his country, but he had his failures. When moving into the land Gerar he was scared that he would be killed because of his wife Sarah; so he and Sarah developed a plan to lie.

Moses the man whom God handpicked to lead the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage was not perfect in faithfulness. Moses watched the miracles of the Lord, and he witnessed the power of the Almighty; but he was just a man like us, and his imperfections became clear at the rocks of Meribah. (Numbers 20:8-12) Out of his anger at the Israelites Moses did not obey the Lord.

The Apostle Peter walked with Jesus during His ministry here on this earth, and he witnessed many of the miracles that were done by Him. Peter was also the first person that publicly confessed Jesus as the Christ from God. (Matthew 16:16) However, in the hours leading up to the crucifixion Peter denied knowing the Lord not once or twice, but three times. Yet, after His resurrection Jesus restored Peter three times. (John 21:15-17)

The Apostle Paul who became one of the greatest evangelists of all times began as a persecutor of the Church (Acts9:5); after his conversion to Christ wrote at least 11 of the books in the New Testament.

We are not perfect, and no matter how hard we try we will never reach the perfection that we have been called. “Therefore you are to be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect.”-Matthew 5:48 Perfection is the goal we seek, but we will never get it on this earth. My dad had a saying; he would say, “If you want perfection then call Jesus.” He always said this while talking about work, but it applies to every aspect of life.

Father, I thank You for offering the Perfection of Your Son to cover my imperfections. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    AMEN!

  2. Awesome stuff Steve!

Even Jesus called himself the Son of David, and David had a man killed so he could have his wife. I am glad that God shows us that these men were human, and made mistakes, but God used them anyways. What a good God!
