In God I Trust
I Kings 17:9, 23-24, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you… And Elijah took the child, and brought him down from the upper room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said, ‘See your son is alive.’” Then the woman said to Elijah, “Now I know that you are a man of God, and the word of the Lord is in your mouth.”
Despite the fact that Elijah’s brook dried up he continued to trust God, and when God told him to go to Zarephath he obeyed. He found the widow that God had told him about and she provided for Elijah. Many times the instructions of God do not make sense to us because God does not think or act like us. (Isaiah 55:8-9) Even though we do not understand if we will continue to trust in God then He will provide for us.( Exodus 16:4; Matthew 10:10; Matthew 17:27 ) God will meet our needs in ways that we cannot understand.
Like the widow, we have a natural human tendency to blame someone else when we have problems. Usually, we think God is an easy target, but since we cannot directly ”get in God’s face” we blame people that represent God. But many times God uses our trouble to show His glory. John 11:4, “But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.”
If we would hold off trying to blame God and remain faithful to Him then we will see and recognize God’s glory like the widow did after Elijah raised her son. John 11:40, “Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God ?”

Father, I thank You for meeting my needs, and I know that when I delight my heart in You that You will give me the desires of my heart. I ask Father that You draw me closer to you, so that my desires will be what You desire for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen
