Make me a light.
Exodus 3:3, “So Moses said, “I must turn aside now and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.”
I cannot even begin to imagine what Moses must have been thinking. He was looking at a bush that was not being eaten up by the flames that were around it. It was probably Spring or Fall, but it might have been in the middle of Summer. (Because you you don’t take the flock out in the dead of winter.) Whenever it was I’m sure that there were still leaves on it, and these leaves were just hanging on totally oblivious to the flames that were shooting up all around them. As Moses got closer he must have noticed that there were no ashes and mo fiery red tips at the edges of the limbs. In fact, the bush was totally whole and complete it was just engulfed by the FLAMES of GOD!!
The Word of God is a lot like that bush. It is the complete and total mind of God, but when we open it and study we see the FLAMES of GOD that are shooting out of it. We read in the prophet Jeremiah, “Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not My word like fire ?” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock ?” The Word of God is an all consuming fire, and there are two things that can happen as we draw near to the Word, 1) We can be burned and left all crispy and charred as we try to resist His Truths, or 2) We can glow for Him and be a light for others to see by.
The bush became a light for God to use, and because Moses saw that light and drew closer; he was able to be an instrument used by God. This day, week, month or life I hope that you will draw near to the FLAMES of GOD(The Bible) so that you too can become an instrument for God.

Father, I thank You for giving me Your Word to draw me closer to Your flame, and I ask that You light me up with those flames; so that I can be a light that points to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
